Computing is taught in classes across each year and children access technology within lessons across the curriculum. Computing skills are used to show mastery in curriculum areas where children can use word processing, animation, presentations and much more. Children also learn coding in each year group and will access at least 6 weeks per year.
Online safety is delivered within Computing sessions across all year groups each term.
Children at Newton Ferrers Primary School have access to google apps which include google mail (email), google drive (a cloud to save work) and other learning sites. The children are given their own username and password in order to access them. Children are encouraged not to share these, however staff do have copies of these if they are forgotten or lost.
As part of our IT curriculum, the children learn about internet safety which includes the correct use of the above apps. Children can access their accounts at home for home learning projects. Information will be given by the class teacher of future work once lessons have been taught in school. All of our internet is regulated by the South West Grid for Learning and our suppliers TME to ensure that our children are safe online.
