Our Art Clay Tiles of an animals from the Stone Age
World Book Day
We had a fantastic world book day. In the morning, we had a workshop with Helen Haraldsen about how she became an author and her love for animals. We had a quiz on fictional animals from lots of different stories. In the afternoon, we had a writing workshop. We learnt how to create choose an animal for our story thinking about how it was unique, what it wanted in the story, why, what was stopping the animal from getting this to then how did they manage to get this ‘want’. The children have some fantastic ideas ready to write a story in their free writing sessions. Cellars class also had a lovely session, sharing a book with another child in Revelstoke. There were excellent discussions and recommendations made across the class.
Forest School
During our forest school sessions this half term, we have had a focus on plants. In our sessions, we have identified different trees and plants in our forest school area, cooked with wild garlic, planted plants, learnt about the different parts of tree and flowers and the importance of each part and lots more!

We had a fantastic couple of sessions with Dr Jackson, a marine biologist, learning all about our seas, food webs and different animals that live in our seas.

First, they were placed into houses by the sorting hat and then they took part in a variety of magical lessons: Care of Magical Creatures, Quidditch, Charms and Potions. Check back here in a few weeks to read about the events of the day in more detail in our recount writing!
