Computing is taught in classes across each year and children access technology within lessons across the curriculum. The school has chromebooks and ipads which help with the delivery of our computing curriculum enabling whole class teaching. Children at Newton Ferrers Primary School have access to google apps which include google mail (email), google drive (a cloud to save work) and other learning sites. The children are given their own username and password in order to access them. Children are encouraged not to share these, however staff do have copies of these if they are forgotten or lost. Type-writing skills are also taught each year.
Skills are built on each year in programming, handling data, multimedia and technology in their lives. This includes internet confidence, creating spreadsheets and coding.
As part of our IT curriculum, the children learn about internet safety which includes the correct use of the above apps. Children can access their accounts at home for home learning projects. Information will be given by the class teacher of future work once lessons have been taught in school. All of our internet is regulated by the South West Grid for Learning and our suppliers TME to ensure that our children are safe online.
